Form 4 Student Fatally Stabbed by Junior at Bandar Utama School

Date:

PETALING JAYA — A 16-year-old Form 4 student was tragically killed after being stabbed multiple times by a 14-year-old junior at SMK Bandar Utama Damansara yesterday morning.

Police confirmed that the incident occurred at around 9.30 a.m. within the school compound.

The suspect, a male Form 2 student, was reportedly armed with a sharp object believed to be a knife.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Ismail said the boy has been arrested, and investigations are underway to determine the motive behind the attack.

“This is a heartbreaking incident. We are still investigating.”

“What’s very sad is that the 16-year-old girl passed away at the scene,” he told reporters during an anti-bullying programme in Kuala Lumpur earlier today.

Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Shamsudin Mamat said the victim was stabbed multiple times and that two sharp weapons believed to have been used by the suspect were seized at the scene.

He confirmed that the stabbing took place inside one of the female toilets, and that a teacher nearby had rushed to help after hearing screams.

“A teacher heard a scream and tried to get help, but the incident had already occurred,” he said during a press conference outside the school yesterday.“A teacher heard a scream and tried to get help, but the incident had already occurred,” he said during a press conference outside the school yesterday.

No other individuals were harmed in the attack.

The 14-year-old suspect, also a student at the same school, has been detained and will be remanded at the Petaling Jaya Magistrate’s Court today.

Shamsudin added that, so far, no evidence of bullying has been found, and the motive is still under investigation.

Earlier, Free Malaysia Today reported that both students may have known each other, though they were not necessarily close friends.

The victim’s body has been sent to the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) for a post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, the Education Ministry has expressed deep regret over the tragedy and has formed a special investigation committee to examine the circumstances surrounding the case.

School counsellors have been deployed to provide psychological and emotional support to students and staff.

“This devastating incident has deeply affected the school community. We urge the public to refrain from speculation and allow the police to complete their investigation,” the ministry said in a statement.

The case has sparked widespread grief and debate on social media, with many Malaysians calling for stronger safety measures in schools and better early intervention programmes to address behavioural and mental health issues among students.
