Malaysia Celebrates 68th National Day with Unity and Pride

The 68th National Day celebration at Dataran Putrajaya on 31 August 2025 embraced the theme “MADANI Malaysia: Rakyat Disantuni,” highlighting national unity and people-focused governance.

KUALA LUMPUR: Festivities kicked off early, with His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim making a grand entrance in a blue Proton Satria Neo, accompanied by Raja Zarith Sofiah, Bernama reported.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Cabinet members, and foreign dignitaries attended.

The celebration began with the national anthem and a 14-gun salute, followed by a Rukun Negara pledge led by Lieutenant Commander Mohd Firdaus Arbaain, honoured for his heroic rescue efforts in 2023.

Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza performed the official theme song, inspiring thousands to join in singing—a moment of shared patriotism.

A massive parade featuring over 14,000 participants, 21 bands, 508 assets, and 116 service animals captivated the crowd. Six main segments showcased national unity, security, well-being, and cultural diversity.

Special highlights included contingents from ASEAN 2025, Visit Malaysia Year 2026, and the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang . Government agencies, the private sector, and local artists also took part.

The parade featured national athletes and civil servants, including disabled personnel, reinforcing inclusivity. The crowd cheered on the K9 unit, cavalry, and APM’s famous “oyen” cat.

A powerful air show led by the Air Force Commander and the Malaysian Armed Forces’ debut bagpipe performance added excitement.

The event closed with a vibrant Citra MADANI cultural dance performance, reflecting Malaysia’s rich heritage and unity.

Celebrations were also held across the country, echoing the patriotic spirit nationwide.
